What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan.
Reiki was discovered in the mid-1800s by a Japanese-born monk, Dr Mikao Usui.
The word "reiki" comes from the Japanese words "rei," which means "universal," and "ki," which means "life force energy." Reiki practitioners believe that everyone has a life force energy that flows through them and that this energy can be channelled to promote healing.
Reiki is a holistic, non-invasive practice where the practitioner places their hands on or near the client's body in a series of hand positions to channel healing energy to the person receiving treatment. The goal of Reiki is to balance and restore the body's natural energy flow to promote healing and well-being.
During a Reiki session, the client is usually lying down on their back, fully dressed and the practitioner will place their hands on or near the client's body in a series of hand positions. Throughout the session, the client may feel a warm sensation, tingling, tummy gurgling or a sense of calm and relaxation.
Some of the benefits of Reiki include stress reduction, reduce tension in your body, pain relief, reduce headaches, reduce chronic pain, improved sleep, increased energy, improve immune function, provide emotional balance and spiritual well-being.
The space the healing takes place is dim, lit with candles and soft music playing in the background to create peace and calm.
I have had a range of clients step through my door all for different reasons. Whether it be a sickness that has brought them in to relieve physical pain and symptoms, to receive guidance or to just have their chakras realigned. Every Reiki I give benefits me in some way. When clients receive messages, whether they be through their higher self, my spirit guides or deceased loved ones, it is a constant reminder to never stop working on myself, to keep moving forward and to be grateful for the wonderful gift and tool that Reiki is.
